It has been a long week for both students and college staffs during this orientation week. And thanks to all the facilitators who have been there for the new students.
Amazingly, we have almost 400 students from different places including Kedah, Perak, Sabah and Sarawak. Some of them didn't even go to Sekolah Menengah Teknik (Technical School). There are some students who came from Sekolah Berasrama Penuh (SBP - boarding school) and Sekolah Menengah harian biasa (the normal high schools). We also received few Chinese and Indian students. It is a really good change to all of us here.
During this orientation week, there are so many activities related to their new life as a pre-U student. Hopefully they will find it easier to adapt the life of a college student. And after the orientation week is finally over, the lecturers are eager to start classes next week.
For me... I'm trying my best to fulfil my job as an educator, a teacher, a parent, a mentor and also as a friend for my new students. Hopefully they will try their best to achieve their goals in life. InsyaAllah.....
To my amazement, there are some talented students who volunteered to participate in Choir, Short Drama, Nasyid (singing Islamic songs) and there was a student who sang Warisan (by Sudirman) tremendously. She was really confident standing alone on the stage singing in front of almost 450 people during Malam Mesra MPPB - an event held to welcome the new students and to appreciate the helpful facilitators.
English is a second language but still, to be a good engineer they have to at least master the language both for spoken and written language; so I'll try my best to cater to their needs as a student here in Kolej Matrikulasi Teknikal Pahang.
